At Kortright, we have two morning services each Sunday – one at 9:00am and one at 11:00am with a time of coffee and conversation in between in the church library.
Worship at the 9:00 service has a more traditional feel – we love to include hymns of the faith that have withstood the test of time; but we also like to sing some newer choruses and songs that remind us of God’s love and grace.
The 11:00 service has a more contemporary feel musically; often we’ll have a full praise team leading the music drawing from the huge canon of current worship music today. But once again, we don’t shy away from including a hymn or two that powerfully declares the Good News in Jesus Christ. Ultimately, we challenge ourselves to go beyond our own personal tastes and styles – it’s more important that we worship well together whether we choose music from a more traditional or more contemporary feel!
We also love including children in worship – they are a vital part of our faith community and they teach us SO much about worship. They stay in for part of the service before they head out to their own time of worship and teaching under the passionate leadership of Barb Ferrier and her awesome volunteers.
Bannering is another creative way to bring honor and glory to God in our worship services. Beautifully colored flags and banners are available at the back of the sanctuary for both young and old to wave during our corporate times of singing together. We love actively using the bodies God gave us in worship too! |
